Zamfara NWAPDI Urges Women Farmers to Make Judicious Use of Free Fertilizer

The Zamfara State Coordinator of the Nigeria Women for Agricultural Projects and Development Initiatives (NWAPDI), Hajiya Shafa'atu Habibu Tsafe, has urged women farmers across the state who benefited from the Zamfara State Government's free fertilizer distribution programme to make effective use of the support to boost agricultural production.

Speaking with journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, Hajiya Shafa'atu called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilizer, stressing that its proper application would increase crop yields, improve food security, and enhance their livelihoods.

She expressed gratitude to God for blessing Zamfara State with a governor committed to the welfare and development of the people, describing Governor Dauda Lawal as a leader who promotes fairness, equity, and justice in the distribution of government interventions.

"We are sincerely grateful to God for giving us this opportunity. I am extremely happy because fertilizer is currently scarce and very expensive. Many farmers cannot afford to buy it, but we have a governor who genuinely cares about the people and has provided quality fertilizer free of charge. This is a commendable gesture and a source of great joy," she said.

Hajiya Shafa'atu noted that the fertilizer distribution would benefit both male and female farmers by increasing agricultural productivity and improving food production across the state.

She explained that the rising cost of fertilizer has discouraged many people from farming, while some who managed to cultivate their land risk poor harvests because they could not afford the essential farm input.

According to her, the government's intervention will provide much-needed support to farmers during this year's rainy season and contribute significantly to increased agricultural output and food sufficiency in Zamfara State.
